THE
BLACKSMITH-CARPENTER'S SHOP

Located next to the main gate, this building
served as the carpenter and blacksmith shop. The horses and oxen continually
required re-shoeing. Wagon wheels were often broken on the trips to the mountain or
to the prairie around the Fort and would need repairs. Most of the furnishings for
the Fort were constructed in this building.
