Hiking

You don’t have to be on the river to experience the landscape around Fort Benton. Short hikes, scenic overlooks, and quiet back roads offer incredible views of the Missouri River Breaks, open prairie, and big sky horizons. Wildlife is common, and it’s not unusual to see deer, antelope, eagles, and other birds of prey. (Watch out for rattlesnakes!)

Many of the best experiences are simple—walks along the levee, short hikes into the breaks, or driving out of town to watch the light change across the landscape.
