Shep’s Gravesite
Shep is buried on the hill overlooking Fort Benton, above the railroad tracks where he spent so many years waiting during his vigil. His gravesite offers sweeping views of town and the river below—a peaceful place to reflect on the story that made Shep a lasting symbol of loyalty.
You can reach the site by driving up the hill toward the golf course above town. From there, it’s easy to look down toward the tracks and imagine the place Shep returned to day after day, waiting for his master to come home.
